NVIDIA may be preparing a reduction in the design of its future GeForce RTX 5090 FE (Founders Edition) GPU, bringing a graphics card with just two slots and two fans. This would be a big change from the RTX 4090 FE and custom versions, which have 3 to 4 slots equipped.

Leaker “kopite7kimi“, who has already proven to have reliable sources within the tech industry, stated on Twitter/X that the next big GPU will have a 2-slot cooler design. It is important to mention that the information will be treated as a rumor, at least until official confirmation from Jensen Huang’s company.

Taking into account that other rumors and leaks indicate that NVIDIA will launch both the GeForce RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080 model in 2024, more information about them should emerge during Computex 2024 – which takes place next week. A keynote has already been confirmed for the event, all that remains is to wait and see what they release.

Last week it was revealed by the same leaker that the PCB of the new video card will have a peculiar design, being divided into three parts within the hardware: a main board, an I/O rigid board and the last for the PCIe slot. Only the first two will be needed to use the gaming GPU with the “Blackwell” architecture.

Other information about the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card is that it will use the GB202 GPU – with 192 streaming multiprocessors. It will also use fewer cores than the full capacity, as seen in the RTX 4090 version. The memory will be GDDR7, but it has not been defined whether they will use Samsung or SK Hynix and their specifications.

The future of NVIDIA and the GeForce RTX 5090

It’s worth noting that NVIDIA has plans beyond the GeForce RTX 5090 and the “Blackwell” architecture, with CEO Jensen Huang confirming in his latest financial report that they are at an accelerated pace of production and that we could see a new generation of GPUs being launched annually.

This means that the rumors about the “Rubin” architecture could be real and that we will see its next GeForce RTX 60 graphics cards in 2025.
