With its entry into the graphics card market, Intel also brought its response to NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR. The Intel XeSS is the image upscaling solution for the blue side of this industry, and just like FSR, does not require dedicated hardware (as with NVIDIA), but there is an extra feature in this matter: it works better on Intel Arc GPUs, due to the cores dedicated to machine learning. Still, it works on other GPUs through the DP4a instruction, available on modern chips, delivering inferior results because of this.

In other words, Intel’s resource is a mix of how AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS work: if you want more performance, use an Arc graphics card, if you want to have more options, even with inferior results, choose one of the various graphics chips supported. The premise, however, is the same as its rivals, rendering the image at a lower resolution, and then enlarging it to the desired resolution.

Intel Latest AMD Ryzen. Here, you will always have an updated list of GPUs that support Intel XeSS, updated with new releases.

Although the list of supported GPUs is large, it is still not as large as the AMD FSR. This happens because the graphics chip needs to support Shader Model 6.4. This excludes the Radeon RX 5000 series and GeForce GTX 900 downwards. In theory, these GPUs are left out, but it is still possible to activate the feature on them, although the result will be much lower. The same goes for AMD technology which, in practice, is supported beyond the official list, although use on these GPUs is not recommended.

Furthermore, this list also includes all mobile versions of the GPUs listed, as well as SKUs that have a different nomenclature, but are from the same series (Intel Arc A730M, for example). The list also expands to Arc iGPUs present in Core Ultra (Meteor Lake) and Ryzen 6000, 7000 and 8000 mobile APUs (mobile or desktop).
