Since the release of AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3D, more than 100 cases of failures have been reported on social networks, mainly through Reddit. Some users face startup problems after a short period of use, while others see the processor simply stop working, with or without physical damage.

Many of the problems are reported on asrock AM5 motherboards, where the system does not start correctly. Asrock and AMD investigated the problem and identified that ancient BIOS could be the main cause. Although some previous versions support the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, the ideal is updated versions.

Thus, if the problem is simply the system not starting, updating to the latest version of BIOS provided by Asrock may be the solution. However, For users who found burn marks in the processor, this solution will not be sufficient.

At Club386, AMD spoke on the situation:

“We are aware of a limited number of user reports involving asrock AM5 motherboards that failed to complete the post. After a joint investigation, AMD and Asrock identified a memory compatibility problem present in previous BIOS versions, which was corrected in the latest BIOS. Asrock has already given guidance on this behavior and addressed a singular report of a damaged CPU.

It is worth noting that a failure in the post can be caused by a number of factors and does not necessarily indicate a non -functional CPU. We recommend that users start updating their BIOS for the latest version available for their specific motherboard model.

If the problem persists, we encourage users to contact our customer support team for more assistance and diagnostics. ”

The pronouncement also signals that, despite being few cases, a hundred among the thousands of processors sold, Companies are working to solve the problem for users.

In fact, the two companies have been aware of the problems since February this year, with Asrock immediately launching a beta update of BIOS to try to solve the problem. The cause of the failure has been identified as a memory compatibility problem, but has already been resolved with the latest release of BIOS.

However, the problem seems to have not been resolved, There were reports of users who updated BIOS and yet suffered failures with the Ryzen 7 9800x3D.

Most cases are associated with Asrock 800 plates, but the manufacturer says problems are not caused by the motherboard hardware. According to Asrock, problems can be the result of user error, such as dirt accumulation in the socket, which can be resolved with proper cleaning.

If any user is facing this problem, it is recommended to contact AMD support. If the problem persists, it is possible to request a processor replacement.

Also, although the problem is concentrated on the Ryzen 7 9800x3D, there are reports of similar failures on the Ryzen 9 9950x3D, but the numbers are still very low.
