TSMC will expand facilities in the US after high demand to saturate its factory in Arizona

The production capacity of the TSMC factory in Arizona, United States, is already completely commissioned until 2027. This is what CC Wei revealed, the current CEO of the company, taking the opportunity to talk about recent plans to expand company facilities in the country.

The executive’s statements were made at a press conference in Taiwan. Thus, he was emphatic in saying that US expansion plans do not impact TSMC’s growth on his homeland, where more facilities will also be built.

The TSMC head says the company was encouraged by its US customers to expand its operations there, such as Apple, AMD, Nvidia and Qualcomm. As well as remember, chips produced in the country currently cost between 25% and 30% more than those made in Taiwan, and it seems that this has not affected the demand.

TSMC representatives, however, declined to reveal whether the current US administration fares had any impact on their customers orders. CC Wei did not go into detail if the demand was smaller before or if it was always at this pace.

TSMC grows around the world

The US expand plan involves a total investment of $ 165 billion, and will result in five new FAB 21 modules in Arizona, two advanced packaging facilities and a new Research and Development Center on Uncle Sam’s land.

As mentioned earlier, CC Wei emphasized that this does not change the plans to Taiwan. In its homeland, TSMC prepares to create 11 new production lines later this year.

In addition, the company has already started operating in Japan through Jasm and prepares to inaugurate its first ESMC, aimed at automotive chips in Dresden, Germany.
