AMD and NVIDIA have some common partner manufacturers. MSI is one of them, a brand that has focused on manufacturing only video cards GeForce RTX. To HardwareLuxx, the giant in this segment said that AMD is still an “essential” partner and the focus with the red side will be on motherboards.

This situation of MSI’s absence with AMD Radeon graphics cards came to light when Hardware Unboxed, through a tweetsaid that the Radeon RX 7000 series cards would have been discontinued, and that they never released their custom models with the RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT GPUs.

Asked by HardwareLuxx about the matter, MSI said:

When it comes to graphics cards, our focus at the moment is more on RTX cards actually. However, collaboration with AMD is essential and extremely relevant to us. We see very positive development, particularly in the area of motherboards.

What little there is is no longer available

On MSI’s official website, if we filter the video cards page by AMD, only models with Radeon RX 7900 XTX/XT and RX 7600 GPUs appear. It is possible to find more models with RDNA 2 GPUs than the current generation.

Searching Brazilian retail, it is possible to find these specific models, but they are all unavailable at the moment. We may be looking at the end of stock as a result of lack of supply due to discontinuation by the manufacturer.

On the other hand, there are several options when we talk about AMD motherboards, whether AM4 or AM5, with one or the other model unavailable, which is even common.

The reason for the greater focus on GeForce RTX graphics cards has not been revealed, but it is not difficult to imagine that it has to do with the fact that NVIDIA has greater dominance in the graphics card market.

The offer of GeForce RTX graphics cards, especially with the most current series, is quite large and MSI covers all SKUs with different models released. It is even possible to find some RTX 30 models, although in smaller quantities due to the launch time this series already has.

AMD has ASUS and GIGABYTE among the major manufacturers that also develop customized models for NVIDIA, in addition to Sapphire, PowerColor, XFX and ASRock as exclusive partners in graphics cards.
