The new line of Gigabyte Z890 motherboards had their names leaked, bringing both models for the AORUS brand and for its main one. In total, there will be eight mainboards at launch to accompany the Intel Arrow Lake CPUs – which will hit the market in 2024.
The flagship will be the AORUS Xtreme AI TOP, followed by the AORUS Master AI Top and followed by the “Z890 AI TOP”. We will also have the AORUS Master (without the “AI TOP” seal), the AORUS Pro Ice and a trio of AORUS Elite products – differentiated by their connectivity.

Taking into account that Intel processors will have strong support for artificial intelligence, Gigabyte must be producing all these Z890 motherboards with the “AI TOP” seal to optimize their capabilities in upcoming PCs. Still, it has not disclosed what shape or what the big differences will be in this new version.
It is also notable that the platform will not support DDR4 memories, which explains why we only have eight models and not as wide a launch as seen in the past – as in the case of the first generation of LGA-1700 motherboards.
This line of Gigabyte Z890 mainboards is being produced to simultaneously arrive with Intel Core Ultra 200 CPUs – the first with the LGA-1851 SoC and Arrow Lake microarchitecture. Its biggest highlight will be the increase in performance in relation to AIs, which is also seen in the competition, such as AMD and Qualcomm processors.
Leaks beyond Gigabyte
In addition to Gigabyte’s motherboards, other leaks show more of what the public can expect from the “Z890”. One of the factors that caught the most attention is that they will use the Thunderbolt 4 connection – which would not result in such a big leap compared to the third generation of the standard.
Still, more details should be officially released within Computex 2024. Intel’s CEO, Pat Gelsinger, will give a presentation at the event and we will have the participation of several of its commercial partners at stands: showing their upcoming releases and that is where, probably, we will know more about Z890 motherboards.
