The long awaited GTA 6which will initially arrive on consoles in 2025, may not be as revolutionary and surprising as some people expect. That’s the opinion of Obbe Vermeijiformer developer of Rockstar. He worked on the franchise between 1995 and 2009.

The hype surrounding GTA 6 is at an extraordinary level. The game’s trailer has surpassed 200 million views in just 6 months. The number of rumors and comments about the game is also growing every day. The leak of internal data from the game’s development has strengthened expectations about the successor to GTA V.

People may be disappointed, says Vermeiji

However, Vermeiji adopts a perspective that is related to the classic phrase: the higher the expectation, the greater the frustration. The former Rockstar developer believes that there will not be a truly significant leap when compared to GTA 5. “Maybe some people might be a little disappointed on the first day”, said the developer in an interview with the Brazilian channel SanlnPlay.

Vermeiji also highlighted a scene from the GTA 6 trailer that he found to be truly impressive:

“The scene that really struck me is the one on the beach, where everyone seems to be doing something else. Each character has their own animation. I think it’s pretty amazing.

Discussions about GTA 6 also involve the question of how the game will run on consoles. Although it has not yet been officially confirmed, several rumors point to the imminent release of the game. PS5 Prowhich, if Microsoft does not launch a new revamped version of the Xbox, will be the console that promises the best hardware option to enjoy the game, combined with the developments of an upscaling technology that the PS5 Pro will be able to offer, called PSRR. This technology would act precisely to help games that promise gigantic, high-density maps, such as GT 6, have a satisfactory design, above what is delivered by the base version of the console.

Some analysts, such as Digital Foundry’s Rich Leadbetter, believe that GTA 6 will not run at 60fps on any console, not even the PS5 Pro.
