Update: Unlike what we have published for a few moments, as reported by the Kitguru website, there is no information about recall in progress of the RTX 5090 GPUS in Europe.

In an update, published by the site, Kitguru informs that a customer who reported this fact did so for receiving information from a Dutch store that GPUS RTX 5090 would go through recall. However, in contact with the store, apparently communication is false, since neither party is aware of the subject.

Any news about the subject, we will inform you in this post.

Nvidia faces a new setback with its Blackwell GPUS line. A large European retailer announced the recall of GeForce RTX 5090 units due to a “high fire risk”.

The problem, which has not yet been officially detailed, seems to be related to 12V-2 × 6 power connectorannounced as an enhanced version of the problematic 12VHPWR, but now raises questions about its safety.

Recall affects retailers and consumers in Europe

The information was released by the Kitguru website, which cited a retailer in the Netherlands as a source and that Nvidia would be performing the recall. According to the report, a significant lot of RTX 5090 units is being collected due to “security problems”.

The retailer stated that, for risk reasons, he will not give customers priority to replace the signs, serving orders according to the purchase order.

So far, few cases of overheating have been recorded, but one of the affected models is Asus Rog Astral.

Experts indicate that the 12V-2 × 6 connector may not be uniformly distributing energy between the wires, which may result in a critical increase in temperature, reaching more than 150 ° C in connection with the power supply.

The RTX 50 line is designed to solve the problems of the Ada Lovelace generation, which suffered from connector failures 12VHPWR, leading to melting cables and short circuit risks.

The 12V-2 × 6 version has been announced as a definitive solution, but experts such as Der8auer warn that the new standard can still have power distribution failures, compromising hardware safety.

If Nvidia officially confirms the problem, this could be one of the most problematic releases in the company’s history. The high cost of RTX 50 and expectations around the new Blackwell architecture make the situation even more delicate to the manufacturer.

Now consumers and analysts await an official position on the recall. With increasing concerns, it is possible that other regions will also be affected by similar measures in the coming weeks.
