Manufacturer Analogue has announced six new variants of the “Pocket” handheld, with colors inspired by the Game Boy Color models available at its launch in 1988. Five of them are kiwi, grape, teal, berry and dandelion, while the sixth is a gold version – based on the limited edition that accompanied the arrival of Pokémon Gold.
This edition of the laptop will go on pre-sale starting on September 12, 2024, with a limited production quantity. According to the company, each one will cost $249.99 and will be shipped to the public between 24 and 48 hours after confirmation.
Analogue CEO and founder Christopher Taber says they achieved the Game Boy Color colors with their Pocket through the use of high-quality equipment, tools and processes to achieve a faithful reproduction of what was seen in the past.
Taber reveals that models released and produced over several years were analyzed, with measurements being taken through the interior of Nintendo’s handheld – where the colors were not as worn out by extensive use and exposure to light.
Like the other models released since 2021, the new colorful Analogue Pocket will continue to allow users to play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and SEGA Game Gear cartridges – the latter through an adapter.

Analogue wants to recreate generations
In addition to the Analogue Pocket, made to bring back the experience of old portables, the manufacturer wants to recreate another Nintendo console: the Nintendo 64.
The device, called Analogue 3D, promises to have 100% compatibility with cartridges produced for the old video game, regardless of the region in which it was released. In addition, they claim that the version will support 4K output.
One of the biggest attractions of this version is the use of FPGA (field-programmable gate array) technology, which allows users to play games in a very similar way to what was seen on the original hardware – as it ends up being different in emulators.
