A new development in the clash between Elon Muskowner of X/Twitter and Alexandre de Moraes, minister of the STF, came to light this week. The platform was sentenced by Moraes to pay R$ 700 mil for not deleting defamatory content directed at Arthur Lira, president of the Chamber of Deputies.

It was also determined that the account responsible for the material be blocked, but the platform failed to comply with the decision.

In view of non-compliance, it was stipulated that Twitter pay a fine of R$700,000 within five days; In case of non-compliance within this period, the amount would increase by R$200,000 daily. Twitter was aware of the determination, but made no attempt to remove the post in question, much less to delete the account that published the post.

Minister Alexandre de Moraes expressed concern about Twitter’s attitude, pointing out that disobedience to the court decision represents a direct challenge to the authority of the Judiciary. Read the judge’s statement:
