A Amazon took a big step in improving users’ entertainment experience by launching a search feature with artificial intelligence for your platform Fire TV. Now, those who rely on this service can use all the flexibility of natural language to make requests to the virtual assistant Alexa, and in return, receive suggestions quickly tailored to their personal tastes.

Imagine the convenience of simply saying “search sci-fi time travel series” or specifically asking for “find South Korean horror movies,” and having Alexa process your request immediately.

According to data provided by Nielsen, a reality faced by many people is the considerable amount of time spent searching for something new to watch on streaming platforms. streaming, exceeding 10 minutes on many occasions. With the introduction of the new Alexa function, it is expected to considerably reduce this time interval, in addition to providing more accurate recommendations aligned with the user’s desires.

Not only that, but Alexa now has the power to understand very detailed requests like “Show comedies about housemates”, covering different film genres with commands like “Find medical dramas”.

Even detailed scripts or specific elements of a story are no obstacles to it. Just ask “Find movies where people get sucked into a video game” to prove its effectiveness. Even iconic lines from big pop culture hits, like when asking “Which series says ‘Winter is coming’?” will be promptly identified and responded to by the assistant.

All of this is possible thanks to the use of large language models (LLM), developed by Amazon itself, thus enhancing the creation of recommendations that take into account both subscriptions and free services linked to each account on the platform. The technology promises to be not only robust, but also intuitive and easy to interact with.

Currently, this new way of searching for content is only available in English and restricted to the United States, including some devices that operate with the FOS6 system. However, Amazon is working to expand this functionality to all Fire TV devices in the US in the coming weeks.

The expectation remains as to when this update will reach other countries and languages. Unfortunately, no concrete information has been released regarding the date on which users outside the United States will be able to take advantage of this same ease of searching for content via voice command in the local language.
