Popular diagnostic software AIDA64 received a new beta release this week that claims to bring “preliminary support” for unreleased Intel processors. In the list of changes, we can see CPUs from the Diamond Rapids and Nova Lake generations, currently known only through rumors.

The changes appear for version 7.40.7120 beta of AIDA64, dated December 3, 2024. For those interested in the software, below is the list of changes (with our emphasis) and the link to download the update:

  • Support for ASUS ROG Ryujin III Series LCD
  • SensorPanel Manager with checkboxes
  • Rearrange items via pull and drop in IconBar
  • Preliminary support for Intel Diamond Rapids, Nova Lake CPUs
  • Specific information for ASUS B760M-AYW WiFI series sensors
  • Improved information for ASRock card sensors

What draws attention to the AIDA64 update is that it is believed that Intel’s new CPUs are somewhat distant from their launch. Obviously, “preliminary support” is somewhat vague and open to interpretation. The people at VideoCardz, for example, imagine that it is simply the ability to detect and recognize these CPUs.

Even though it is something simple, this support is interesting because it could be an indication that these processors are already in the testing phase, advanced enough to leak and reach AIDA64.

Intel Diamond Rapids for servers, Nova Lake for the PC

Rumors are still scarce about these future generations of Intel CPUs. We know that Diamond Rapids refers to new Xeon server processors. They should arrive between the end of 2025 and 2026, and a leak indicates that they will have the biggest socket in history – the LGA 9324.

Meanwhile, Nova Lake refers to a future generation of components for the home PC. They should be announced for desktop computers, after Panther Lake arrives for notebooks and portables.

There are, however, rumors that Panther Lake will get a variant for desktop PCs, after Intel reportedly canceled its plans for an Arrow Lake refresh. If that’s the case, Nova Lake may be even further away from an official announcement.
