Zotac reveals “Zone”, its laptop with AMD Ryzen 7 8840U APU

The rumors about the Zotac laptop were real and the company took the “Zone” to Computex 2024 – which promises to bring the public even closer to their favorite PC games.

The device has the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U (Hawk Point) APU, which uses 8 Zen4 architecture cores and has 12 RDNA3 Compute Units. Its default TDP will be 15W, but the user can modify its configuration to reach up to 28W.

The Zotac Zone will use a 7-inch AMOLED screen, with a frequency rate of 120Hz. According to the revealed specifications, it does not support VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) as it uses the MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface) screen standard.

In terms of measurements, the laptop has dimensions of 31 x 13.5 x 4 cm – which makes it larger than the Steam Deck and the new ASUS ROG Ally X – whose battery is 64% larger, compared to the device from Zotac – something that should catch the attention of users.

It is important to mention that Zotac revealed that the Zone laptop should reach the public during the month of September, with a suggested price of $800. Obviously the amount charged is quite high compared to other devices, which should result in a low sales volume taking into account the other products seen on the market.

Furthermore, it will arrive with a “Hawk Point” APU at a time when AMD will already be working with Ryzen AI 300 (Strix Point) processors – which should give an advantage to laptops that use the new hardware in their specifications.

It is not the manufacturer’s final offer

It is important to note that, before Computex 2024, Zotac had already revealed that it would bring the Zone laptop to the event and that its details are still being debated – such as its appearance and even its specifications. In other words, until the official launch, the product may receive changes and it is good to be aware if it has caught your attention.
