Zephyr’s small RTX 4070 Sakura Snow gets a black version

Less than a week before the possible official reveal of the RTX 50 series, Zephyr brought yet another variant of the RTX 4070 to its portfolio. The Chinese manufacturer introduced a black version of its GPU in mini-ITX format with the RTX 4070 Sakura Snow Black.

The name ends up being curious, since there isn’t much reason to call a sign with a simple matte paint job “black snow”, without making references to winter or similar weather events. For those with a good memory, however, it makes sense. The new board model is a black variant of the original Sakura Snow, released in June this year.

So, it looks like Zephyr wants to reach potential new buyers who weren’t thrilled with the card’s original color scheme. The small RTX 4070 in black maintains its settings from the original Sakura Snow, with 12GB of GDDR6X memory and 5,888 CUDA cores. The clock remains the reference standard and the board is powered with a single 8-pin connector, for a TBP of 200W.

The board joins other Sakura Snow models from Zephyr. In addition to the RTX 4070, AIB also offers RTX 4060 Ti and 4060 models with a reduced size.

Unfortunately for those looking to build a compact PC, the RTX 4070 Sakura Snow Black should remain restricted to the Chinese market, like other Zephyr launches. With GPUs getting bigger and bigger, this model’s just 172 x 123 x 42mm size would probably be attractive to a lot of people.

Zephyr has not yet revealed the price of the black variant of the RTX 4070 Sakura Snow. Without the value, it is more difficult to calculate how much it would cost to import a model like this, paying taxes.

Now we have to wait for the launch of the RTX 50 based on Blackwell and see how the arrival of the new models will shake up the market for GPUs already available.
