Zephyr launches three new Radeon RX 6000, with RDNA 2 GPU that is already four years old

This week, Zephyr launched three new models of Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards. And the number is not wrong, the Chinese AIB in fact launched new cards based on RDNA 2 at the end of 2024, which is already four years old since its official debut.

Perhaps the most curious fact about this release is that Zephyr commented on the “delay”, while many companies would not normally offer an explanation. The folks at VideoCardz report that the reason lies in the difficulty of obtaining components to make these Radeon models.

The cards arriving this week from Zephyr are a Radeon RX 6800, a 6800XT and a 6900XT. They are the first high-end models that AIB has ever made and many of the necessary components even came from companies that they no longer work with. Zephyr also says that AMD’s requirements for approving these models are more demanding than NVIDIA’s, and all of this resulted in longer development times.

The company, however, also points out that it won’t need much longer to catch up to the Radeon RX 7000 series. In fact, Zephyr claims that it has already completed the PCB design for the most current GPUs, so they should arrive in the next few months. .

Price and availability of the new Radeon RX 6000

Zephyr’s new Radeon RX 6000 series may not attract attention because it’s new, so the company wants to stand out on price. The plates were launched in China for the following prices:

• Radeon RX 6800: 2,499 yuan (R$1,997)
• Radeon RX 6800XT: 2,799 yuan (R$ 2,236)
• Radeon RX 6900XT: 2.999 yuans (R$ 2.396)

Another interesting fact about Zephyr’s launches is that the company reports that it used chips from the RX 6950XT for the 6900XT. As they had few of these components in stock, they decided to use them right away when manufacturing the RX 6900XT models, so some buyers will be randomly awarded a card with a little more performance.
