The next generation of AMD architecture for processor nuclei, now known as Zen 6, can make its debut on notebooks in the Medusa Point of Apus series. Recent rumors indicate that these new components can reach considerable nuclei count, reaching 22 for Ryzen 9.

Like every rumor, the information here must be seen with some skepticism. They depart from the “leak” known as HXL, which has a good history of credibility with their hardware leaks.

The screen capture above shows the post where HXL details that Apus Medusa Point Intermediate – Ryzen 5 and 7 Models – will have a 4 -counting count (Zen 6), 4 for density (Zen 6C) and two new power of low power (Low Power, LP). We have a total of 10, accompanied by 8 IGPU UNITS, based on “RDNA 3.5+”.

The post indicates for a monolithic design in these processors, while passing the Ryzen 9 we would have an MCM (Multi Chip Module) style layout. This means a CCD of 12 Zen 6 centers, accompanied by another with the same previous configuration: 4 + 4 + 2. IGPU would also be remaining with the same amount of costs.

Medusa Point is scheduled for 2027 only

It is important to emphasize the rumor of the time we are still somewhat distant from the launch of the first Apus Medusa Point. This means that even if the information is correct, we can have plans changes there.

Before we see the first APUs based on Zen 6, AMD still prepares a refresh for its current processor series, the Ryzen AI 300, also known as Strix Point. These would be the new Gorgon Point components, scheduled for 2026, still using Zen 5 nuclei. Thus, Apus Medusa Point are estimated only to 2027.

In the graphics part, we have no leaks on RDNA 4 in integrated graphics. AMD continues to do RDNA 3 updates for IGPUS, and very recently we had the first rumors of dedicated RDNA 4 -based video cards for notebooks, but nothing in Apus so far.
