A rede social Xof Elon Muskwas officially blocked in Brazil this Saturday (31). The platform, notified on Wednesday (28) by the STF to present a legal representative in Brazil within 24 hours, failed to comply with the decision, resulting in the temporary suspension of the service.

After the release of the letter, Musk published provocations to Alexandre de Moraes on his X account, including an image, generated by artificial intelligence, that would represent the arrested minister.

The content of the posts already indicated that Musk would not present the legal representative of X, leading to the blocking of the platform in the country that has more than 22 million users in Brazil. The platform also made an official statement, reaffirming that he would not accept the decision and would wait for the network to be blocked.

The blockage occurs gradually

As in other cases of platform blocking in Brazil, the Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency in Brazil)based on a court order via electronic means, is responsible for monitoring, together with the largest internet service providers (ISPs), compliance with the decision, resulting in the suspension of X services in the country.

According to Anatel, given the number of operators in Brazil, more than 20 thousand, the time for the suspension to be complete will vary, but a portion of users are no longer able to access the platform. According to the regulatory agency, the total block will be completed by Sunday (2).

By blocking, providers stop responding to requests to deliver the IP address associated with the social network domain, denying access to the website. Traffic route reconfigurations, DNS server blocking, and filters that prevent access to the website may also be applied.
