During the event Made By Google 2024which, among other products, the search giant revealed its new option of foldable smartphone, the Pixel 9 Pro Foldpresenter Dave Citron had an awkward situation: a glitch during the presentation of a Gemini AI feature.

Citron, when demonstrating what would be an integration between Google’s AI assistant Gemini, with the Calendar function, ended up coming across a flaw. Before carrying out the test, he even joked saying “Let’s see if the spirit of live demonstrations is with us today.”

Citron took a picture of Sabrina Carpenter’s upcoming concert schedule and asked Gemini if, based on the events already on his calendar, he could make it to Carpenter’s performance while she was in San Francisco. In short, Gemini would cross-reference the schedule with Citron’s personal calendar. But it didn’t work.

Unlike some presentations that are all stitched together, with functions following in a way that is not necessarily live, this Google test was actually worth it, and ended up failing.

But the host did not give up. After a few attempts, and complete silence from those present in the auditorium, trying to improve the AI’s perception of the voice command, the feature worked.
