Valve confirmed this Wednesday (11) that the rumors that it was preparing a new device dedicated to games were true. The company officially announced its new version of the Steam Machinea compact PC that was made to run games optimally and compete with traditional desktop consoles.
With a square design, the new model brings a different philosophy to the company’s previous attempt to invest in the segment. While the original Steam Machines were made up of different hardware, this time the company decided to invest on its own in a single model based on AMD solutions — something similar to what it did successfully with the Steam Deck.
The new compact PC will be based on the SteamOS operating system and promises to offer six times greater performance than Valve’s laptop. According to vehicles like The Verge, which have already been able to test the device, it is capable of playing games like Cyberpunk 2077 with quality similar to that offered by the PS5 Pro on a 4K TV.

When will the new device arrive and what will its price be?
According to Valve, the new Steam Machine was greatly inspired by the feedback it received from the thousands of players who purchased the Steam Deck. The laptop even inspired the creation of the new Steam Controller, which has a design very similar to its command system — and features Bluetooth connectivity, 2.4 GHz and four rear buttons with customizable functions.
The manufacturer claims that, in its debut, the new PC with a compact format will be able to be purchased both individually and together with the accessory. However, she did not share further details about the price that will be charged, although she revealed that it will cost close to a “PC with similar characteristics”.
The new generation of Steam Machine should arrive in selected markets in early 2026, and impressions released so far indicate that It has the potential to be a sales success. However, we will still have to wait for the device’s debut to find out if it poses a real risk to products like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
