Windows delays and design overhaul would have caused N1X NVIDIA

The famous N1X processor, created in partnership with Nvidia with MediaTek, has not yet had an official announcement, but appears in so many leaks and rumors that is already considered almost certain. And now, we have information that a set of factors would have caused its postponement to 2026.

The latest information comes from Digitimes, which explains that companies are reviewing the chip and also seeking to better align their roadmap with market demand. In addition, delays in new versions of Windows could also have been a factor in postponement.

The N1X was even planned for Computex 2025, both in commercial and domestic versions. However, Nvidia would now have chosen to focus first on a release for companies, and measure the success of the chip before its version for end users.

Part of this decision would come from a delay in Windows updates, which would be diminishing the demand for new notebooks and discouraging Nvidia of launching the product in their two versions.

N1X would be presenting defects?

Prior to the Digitimes report, the semiacburate staff had published more reasons to justify the possible postponement of N1X: defects in design. According to the site, Nvidia and Mediatek would have decided to postpone the processor to review their specifications and ensure the quality of the finished product.

The latest rumors do not necessarily deny the possibility of some defect in the new chip. This may have been even more a factor that encouraged its postponement, but it is the kind of thing that we will hardly see any official confirmation, even after the launch of the product.

With a new forecast for the first quarter of 2026, it still goes a while before we discover what Nvidia prepares to compete with Intel, AMD and Qualcomm in a relatively new segment for the Titan of Artificial Intelligence.
