Why didn’t Black Myth: Wukong come to Xbox?

The highly anticipated action RPG Black Myth Wukong, developed by Chinese studio Game Science, is facing a major hurdle in its launch for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles.

While PC and PlayStation 5 players are already enjoying the game, users on Microsoft’s platform will have to wait even longer, as the title has been delayed indefinitely due to what appears to be a significant technical issue.

The memory leak problem

According to reliable reports, such as that of insider exstas1s, the game’s delay for Xbox is due to a memory leak bug that not only causes the game to crash, but can also affect the consoles’ performance.

This critical issue has prevented Black Myth Wukong from passing the certification required to be released on Microsoft consoles. While the Game Science team is working tirelessly to resolve the issue and secure certification, there is still no confirmed date for the fix and, consequently, the game’s release.

Meanwhile, the studio has made it clear that it will only release the version when it is at the expected quality level:

“We are currently optimizing the Xbox Series X|S version to meet our quality standards, so it will not be released simultaneously with the other platforms. We apologize for the delay and aim to minimize the wait for Xbox users. We will announce the release date once it meets our quality standards.”
