The developers of the popular Warframe have come to the conclusion that the biggest culprits of a specific bug that leads to a crash in their game are Intel Raptor Lake CPUs. Among the 13th and 14th generation processors, the top-of-the-line segment is the one that presents the most problems.

On the game’s own forum, a developer has published the results of an investigation into some specific crashes involving nvgpucom64.dll, a component of the NVIDIA driver. This problem occurs when the driver demands a lot from all the cores of Intel processors, consuming a lot of power.

The person responsible for the post on the Warframe forum says that another developer has an Intel Raptor Lake CPU at home, which was showing this error that they were investigating based on crash reports from players. In this person’s case, a BIOS update resolved the issue.

Intel Raptor Lake Core i9 are the most problematic

Among the 13th and 14th generation processors presenting this problem, the champion is the Core i9-13900K, responsible for 29.5% of crashes with this dll. The i9 14900KF (18.7%), 14900K (15.3%) and 13900KF (12.3%) CPUs close the list. In addition to them, different Core i7 SKUs, in addition to i9 ending with “KS” also present this type of problem.

The top-of-the-line Intel Raptor Lake CPUs represent the majority, because they are the ones that consume the most energy, especially when increasing frequencies and using all cores, one of the main aspects that lead to crashes and loss of performance with these processors.

Warframe developers have said that if a player doesn’t have an AMD Ryzen CPU, or even a more recent Intel CPU (which would be a Core Ultra 100), they should have the situation alleviated with improvements that they will soon release to their game.

We also show here that an indie developer decided to change their systems from Intel Raptor Lake to AMD, precisely because of the various problems they were having within the studio itself. In addition, they also recommended their players to do the same, as Intel was selling defective CPUs, according to them.

This situation doesn’t seem to be anywhere near resolved yet, as BIOS updates from motherboard manufacturers apparently aren’t completely resolving the issue. Intel has even refused to fulfill RMA requests for these faulty Raptor Lake processors.
