The complex tariff dispute between the United States and China escaped to get a little more complicated for a few months. Trump administration has decided to postpone for September first of the 25% extra tariff on GPUS imports, motherboards, SSDs, and every PCB-based component made in China.
This extra tax should not be confused with the current general collection of products from the Asian country to the United States. On his return to the White House for a second term, the Trump administration has defined aggressive taxes on all items from China to the US. However, in its first term, in 2018, there were already plans to charge these 25% on top of pieces like GPUS.

The 25% rate was planned in 2018 and suspended in 2019. Then came the Biden administration that did not revisit the matter, and now Trump is back in the US presidency. Once the rate was planned by its first effectiveness, it was expected that it would be implemented, but the current tariff dispute resulted in a new postponement.
The postponement of this old tax now makes sense that US and China have entered a temporary agreement to normalize their taxes.
The beginning of the highest taxation in products coming from China to the United States resulted in retaliation from the Asian country, which was answered with more increases and so on. It arrived at a point where taxes exceeded 100% between the two countries, basically locking trade between them.

Therefore, in mid -May the governments of both countries decided a temporary “truce” that returned 30% rates for Chinese products in the US and 10% in US products going to China. The deal ends in August.

With an extra 25% rate in GPUS and other components postponed for September 1, it is expected to enter current negotiations between countries. Thus, the expectation is for an agreement finalized in August that normalizes the collection of rates in general terms.
