The Trusted Platform Module (PMS), which has been widely known due to the requirements for installing Windows 11, has a safety failure on AMD motherboards that began to be corrected by their partners. BIOS Update is now available for MSI and ASUS models, for example.

Update brings AGESA to its 1.2.0.3E version, and won the news first by mentioning support for AMD’s future CPU. Now we even have rumors what this processor would be, but another equally important information is the correction in the Firmware TPM (FTPM) security failure in the company’s license plates.

According to the update, vulnerability can be explored when sending malicious commands to PMS 2.0 from user-mode applications. If the attack is successful, wrongdoers could then read data stored in PMS or even impact its availability. It is a medium -risk failed failure by AMD.

Update already available on AM5 boards

One of AMD’s first partners to make AGESA 1.2.0.3E available on its motherboards was MSI, when we had the information of a “future CPU” on the way. Now more companies are starting to offer the update as well. Asus drew attention for highlighting vulnerability being corrected.

It is important for affected users to check if there is already the update available to their plates, on the website of their manufacturers. The problem seems to affect Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 processors, so the correction is currently available only on AM5 cards.

New AGESA also prepares AMD plates for new CPU

As mentioned earlier, AGEA 1.2.0.3E brings in its Changelog support to an AMD processor not yet released. This weekend we had speculation that the component would be the Ryzen 7 9700f.
