Among all the applications to share your retrospective of the year 2024, Instagram is certainly among the main ones. And the good news is that the app has already released a new feature so you can create your collage with your favorite photos of the year!
With the new feature, users can highlight the most memorable moments of the year directly in their stories and share them with all their friends and followers. The new feature will be available until the first week of January 2025, so don’t waste time to create yours!

Step by step to create your retrospective on Instagram
Following the tutorial is very simple. Check it out:
- Access the stories tool on Instagram.
- This can be done by tapping the “+” button in the bottom center of the screen, dragging the home screen to the right or simply clicking on your profile photo where the published stories are located (if you have not published any).
- Choose images from your gallery.
- When you open the camera preview screen, swipe up to open your gallery or click the icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Activate collage mode.
- If it’s your first time accessing the resource, it will present itself with an option to get started. If the message does not appear, just find the button with the number “2024” and the “collage” option at the top of the screen.
- Choose the photos you want to include.
- Select the images that best represent your moments from 2024.
- After choosing, click “move forward” in the lower right corner of the screen.
- Customize your collage.
- Adjust the position of the photos as you prefer.
- The “2024” text and accompanying emoji can be customized.
- The predefined filter, which simulates an electronic viewfinder, will be maintained regardless of changes.
- Finalize and public.
- When everything is to your liking, post the story and share it with your followers.

In addition to the retrospective tool, Instagram launched other features to celebrate the end of the year:
- Countdown Effects for New Year’s Eve in stories.
- Holiday themes for direct messages (DMs).
- Special phrases that activate effects in DMs and Notes, such as “happy new year”.
