Tsmc denies that he was forming a joint venture with Intel

TSMC chief CC Wei said officially that the semiconductor manufacturer is not forming a joint venture with Intel or any other company. The executive commented on rumors that began in the first week of April, pointing out a possible partnership between the companies.

“TSMC is not involved in any negotiation with other companies about any joint venture, licensing or technology,” said CC Wei during a recent meeting with investors.

The statement draws attention because The Information website even reported that TSMC and Intel would have already signed a preliminary agreement for the partnership. The report mentioned even numbers, saying that TSMC would have a 21% slice of joint venture.

Rumors also appeared fed by the pressure of the current US administration to strengthen the national chip industry. There would be an interest in having the strength of TSMC helping Intel Foundry to rebuild, while Taiwanese could be favored in the tariff race that the current government has implemented for items outside the country.

Despite US government pressure and possible tariff increases, TSMC remains optimistic about its success in the near future. In the same call with investors in which CC Wei killed the hopes of a joint venture, the executive also increased the company’s performance forecast.

The Taiwanese manufacturer had an income of $ 25.77 billion in the first quarter of 2025, exceeding her expectations of $ 25.72 billion. Thus, for the next quarter the company raised its estimates of $ 1.6 billion, now hoping to earn between $ 28.4 billion and $ 29.2 billion in income.
