Mini PC designs have become increasingly popular, and almost all of them follow a common rule: sacrifice performance for portability. The folks at Billet Labs, however, wanted to break the mold by putting an RTX 4090 and a Core i9 14900K in a mini PC weighing just 13L.
The shape is reminiscent of an old toaster, and that’s no accident. The little computer was even named “The Toaster”. Ironically, heating is precisely the main concern when incorporating such advanced components into such a small space. That’s why the project’s biggest difference is the design of the piping for cooling the Toaster.
As you would expect, liquid cooling is used so this toaster does not toast. The video above shows how assembling the mini PC involved much more metallurgy than is normally seen in custom builds.
The result, in practice, is that the Core i9 14900K did not exceed 72ºC while working on the mini PC, according to results from Billet Labs. The RTX 4090, which does not save on its TDP, worked at 56ºC, with the hot spot not exceeding 70ºC.
Mini PC toaster costs more than R$38,000
When the sacrifice is not made in performance, portability or cooling, it is felt in the pocket. The mini PC was ordered by a customer for Billet Labs – which is why an Intel processor was used instead of AMD – so the channel did not reveal the final value of the product.

However, they responded in the comments of the video that the sum of the parts used alone is around £5,000. This is the equivalent of more than R$38,000 at the current price. The project’s authors also added that the Toaster took approximately 150 hours to build.
