Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses have gained a strong competitor: the Solo AirGo Vreleased yesterday (10) by Solos Smartglasses. Equipped with a camera and powered by GPT-4 artificial intelligence, these glasses promise to revolutionize interaction with the world around you, but they also raise concerns about privacy.
Integrated camera and frame with speakers
The Solos AirGo V’s biggest difference is the integrated front camera, which allows for a series of advanced features, from object recognition to real-time translation. The apparently traditional frame hides speakers, microphones and a built-in battery in the slightly thicker temples. An interesting feature is the possibility of removing the front part that contains the camera, allowing it to be replaced with a frame without a camera, ideal for situations where privacy is a concern.
Embedded features powered by AI
With GPT-4 artificial intelligence (and support for other platforms like Gemini and Claude), Solos AirGo V offers impressive features such as:
- Real-time image analysis: The camera can identify objects, animals and even people if information is available online.
- Live translation: Signs, menus and even conversations in other languages are translated instantly, with the result transmitted through the glasses’ speakers.
- Voice interaction: Allows direct conversations with ChatGPT, for questions, information searches or even casual dialogues.
- Photographs: Capture images directly from the device.
Furthermore, the glasses even offer 7 hours of calls or 10 hours of music playbackcontrolled by touch sensors on the rods. Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity ensures easy pairing with smartphones, while IP67 protection makes them resistant to water and sweat.

A future guided by smart glasses
Mark Zuckberberg has been betting big on the future of smart glasses. Acting as the main promotional image for Ray Ban Meta, the executive projects that glasses could end up taking over smartphones in a few years.
Meta’s CEO doesn’t believe that glasses like the Ray Ban Meta will completely take over the smartphone space, but he does believe that glasses will be the main computing platform of the future.
“In the 2030s, you will likely have your phone in your pocket longer because you will be doing more things with your glasses. They will offer a more intuitive and practical experience, leaving the cell phone as a complementary tool”, added Zuckerberg.
