A Sony confirmed during his presentation at CES 2025 that the long-awaited second season of The Last of Us will be released in April 2025. The news was accompanied by a new teaser, which features scenes of Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) and the infected in Seattle, promising to deepen the game’s story.
The Season Will Be Based on The Last of Us Part II
The plot of the second season will follow part of the events of The Last of Us Part IIwhich will be adapted over the course of at least one more season. Additionally, the second season will have a reduced number of episodes compared to the first, but Max is planning a more robust third season to compensate for this reduction.
Characters and New Developments
The series continues to follow Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) as they journey through a world ravaged by fungal infection, with violent factions vying for control of what’s left of humanity. This season, the character Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever, will be introduced. Abby is a soldier seeking revenge, and her path crosses with Joel and Ellie, changing everyone’s destiny forever.
