In recent times, Artificial Intelligence has evolved by leaps and bounds and has become increasingly present in our lives, from virtual assistants to content creation tools. But all this evolution also raises important questions: Do we need more control over the development and use of AI? How safe is it to let it expand without clear regulation? Europe, for example, has already defined a set of guidelines for regulating technology, a model that should be replicated in other regions.

Recently, the president of the STF, minister Luís Roberto Barroso, defended that the regulation of AI helps protect democracy and prevents the amplification of lies.

For some, regulating AI is essential to prevent abuse, protect privacy and ensure its impact is positive for society as a whole. Others, however, believe that strict regulations could stifle innovation and prevent new ideas from flourishing, acting as a limiter on the expansion of technology itself, and providing more elements of state control.
