TeamGroup this week introduced the T-Force Z54E, its newest M.2 SSD compatible with PCIe 5.0. The drive arrives with a total focus on performance, promising up to 14,900MB/s in sequential reading, a number that surpasses some of the most advanced models currently available, such as the Samsung 9100 PRO.

The new T-Force Z54E SSDs are made with 3D TLC NAND Flash, using the Phison E28 controller. Obviously, the drives run on the NVMe protocol to reach their speed rates almost reaching 15GB/s.

In addition to surpassing the 14,800MB/s offered by the Samsung 9100 PRO, TeamGroup’s new SSDs are interesting because the sequential read speed is the same for the different capacity options of the T-Force Z54E. There are three variants: 1TB, 2TB and 4TB, and all reach 14,900MB/s.

As you’d expect, sequential write speeds are a bit slower. The 1TB model records at 13,700MB/s, while the 2TB and 4TB versions reach 14,000MB/s. Unfortunately, TeamGroup has not yet released the random read and write performance for its new SSDs, a more important metric for gaming performance.

TeamGroup T-Force Z54E comes with graphene heatsink

As the images show, TeamGroup’s new high-performance SSDs come equipped with a discrete graphene heatsink. For products with this level of speed it may be best to consider using more advanced coolers, but the narrow heatsink ensures that the drive should fit into any build.

The manufacturer did not want to reveal the suggested prices for each capacity option of its storage components yet. However, the company already informs its durability estimates for the products: the 1TB model reaches 600TBW, the 2TB model reaches 1,200TBW and the 4TB version reaches 2,400TBW.

Prices will be important to really evaluate how the T-Force Z54E will compete with the 9100 PRO. But it’s worth remembering that Samsung’s SSD recently gained a new capacity option, reaching 8TB, something that TeamGroup still doesn’t offer in its new drive.
