TeamGroup announces 8TB PCIe 5.0 SSD with up to 13,500MB/s speed

TeamGroup this week announced another capacity option for its T-Force GE Pro line of high-performance PCIe 5.0 SSDs. The company’s new SSD offers up to 8TB, with the promise of delivering up to 13,500MB/s of sequential read speed, reaching up to 11,000MB/s of writing.

It’s not just performance, however, that TeamGroup promotes its new SSD. The company highlights security technologies, such as Security Isolation, which helps defend the product from malware. The 8TB T-Force GE Pro also features 4K LPDC technology, which promises to improve the accuracy of data transfers and promote better product life.

TeamGroup’s new PCIe 5.0 SSD capacity option also comes with an active cooling cooler that is normally sold separately, the T-Force AirFlow. In any case, the 8TB T-Force GE Pro still maintains the graphene heatsink, also present in the other models in the line.

Unfortunately, in its announcement, TeamGroup does not reveal a specific launch date for the product, nor its price. The company only recommends interested users to stay tuned to its official channels for updates.

TeamGroup’s new 8TB SSD isn’t the fastest T-Force GE Pro

TeamGroup’s new 8TB PCIe 5.0 SSD certainly sits at the top of the T-Force GE Pro lineup, but it’s not necessarily the fastest in this series of products.

The T-Force GE Pro “family” drives were announced in January last year, with 1TB, 2TB and 4TB options. These last two capacity options promise speeds of 14,000MB/s for writing and 11,800MB/s for reading, effectively faster than the 8TB model.

However, it is difficult to imagine someone looking for capacity that would give up 4TB more storage for 500MB/s of speed. What will really determine the success of the 8TB option is its price, and we don’t know that yet.
