Team Group launched this week its new SSD P250Q, a PCIE 4.0 Drive with Nand 3D TLC chips without major highlights – except for a very specific feature. The P250Q includes a “self -destruction” circuit, which can delete all user data with a simple button.

The official name of the function is “Independent Circuit of Destruction,” in free translation. The P250q comes with a wire that can be connected to any button for instant driving. In the example video below, Team Group uses a large red button:

As the video shows, the circuit can be triggered in two ways. The/W Quick Erase is activated by pressing the 5 to 10 second button, and makes a normal SSD formatting. It is noteworthy that it comes with a safety mechanism that for formatting in cases of energy falls and then still where it had stopped.

Press the button for more than 10 seconds physically spoils Nand chips from Team Group P250q. It is not a dramatic explosion as in espionage movies, but ensures that your data is irrecoverable.

P250Q is part of the industrial line of Team Group

As it is written even in the Drive Heatsink, Team Group’s new SSD is part of its industrial line, focused on professional use. Thus, it makes more sense this whole security with the information it can store – although the company comments on its usefulness on gamer PCs also in the video.
