A Nintendo Switch 2 promises fewer challenges for developers when adapting games from platforms like the PlayStation 5, according to recent reports. Despite the CPU being the component most divergent from the standard established by the system, developers claim that this will not be a major obstacle to the creation of titles or ports for the console.
A developer identified as MattAgainknown in the gaming industry and active on forums like Famiiboardscommented on the capabilities of the system. He highlighted that the main technical effort for the Switch 2 is in optimizing CPU usage, especially when porting games.
This is due to the transition from a more power-hungry x86 architecture, common in consoles like the PS5, to a mobile ARM chip.
However, the scalability of graphics resources to the Switch 2’s GPU is described as efficient, reducing difficulties in the adaptation process.
The ease of carrying titles from the PlayStation 5 for the Switch 2 It represents a significant evolution compared to the previous generation, where adapting PS4 games to the original Switch was a more complex process.
This change could expand the list of multiplatform games available for the new console.
Studio support and future releases for Switch 2
Although few titles have been officially announced for the Nintendo Switch 2, rumors indicate that major publishers are interested in bringing their main games to the console.
Microsoft, for example, would be developing versions for the Switch 2 of titles such as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Diablo IV, Fallout 4 e Starfield.
This receptivity from studios can ensure that the new platform receives robust support from launch.
Even though the console is in the market preparation phase, expectations are that adapting large AAA games will be more viable, consolidating the Switch 2 as a competitive option in the games market.
Nintendo has not yet confirmed the exact release date of the Switch 2, but accessory manufacturers, such as NACON, indicate that the console should hit the market between April and September this year.
