Portable consoles are increasingly popular, especially those that basically incorporate a Steam Deck -style poc. Wanting to enjoy the hype, but bring something totally different, sugar cubes turned to the past with his N97 Elite. That’s right, as the name suggests, the new Handheld of the Chinese manufacturer adopts the Nokia N97 style.
The Nokia N97 hit the market in September 2009, bringing a slide mechanism that hid a physical keyboard under the touch screen. Something that can be considered a differential to this day for the device is the angle that the screen was supported by the keyboard in use.
Sugar Cubes N97 Elite follows the same logic. However, being a laptop for games, which we have under the 4.7 ”screen are video games. The absence of a lever for the analog, which was probably sacrificed due to the design of the device, draws attention.
In terms of hardware, we have a 2019 Snapdragon 855+ and 12GB of RAM, which can raise questions. In its disclosure, however, the laptop even appears running some modern titles.
Price and availability of N97 Elite
As usual for this type of device, the N97 Elite is initially released only in China, the homeland of its manufacturer Sugar Cubes.
The small laptop arrives for the suggested price of 1,499 yuans, the equivalent of R $ 1,178.90 in the current quotation. It is a considerably lower value than most laptops that are currently launched, but it is also a completely different proposal.

At the moment the N97 Elite is not expected to launch outside China. It is worth mentioning that, despite the name, the console has also been called a “return” of Xperia Play.
The design is quite different, but Xperia Play also featured controls instead of a keyboard under the screen.
