While Valve will still take some time to launch a second generation of the Steam Deck, one of the models that helped popularize the portable will be discontinued. On your dedicated product page, the company confirmed that it no longer has plans to manufacture its version with an LCD screen.
Therefore, as soon as the 256 GB LCD model runs out of currently available units, it will no longer be possible to find it through official means. However, the company will continue to manufacture the option with an OLED screen, which brings better visual quality — and a corresponding price.

The decision allows Valve to simplify its Steam Deck production lineas well as prepare for the future. However, anyone looking forward to a new generation of hardware will have to wait a considerable amount of time for this, as the company has reinforced several times.
Steam Deck will be maintained in two models
With the end of sales of the Steam Deck with LCD screen, Valve will keep two versions of its portable console available. Both have OLED displays and differ mainly in their storage capacity: one has 512 GB, while the other has 1 TB.
Furthermore, the most expensive model comes with an anti-glare finish on its screenwhich makes it easier to play in well-lit environments. While the device never officially arrived in Brazil, its most basic version can be easily found in importer stores.

With the decision, the Steam Deck becomes a slightly less accessible product, given that its most basic OLED model costs US$549, or just over R$3,000 in a direct conversion. Therefore, it comes close to rivals like the Xbox ROG Ally ($599)which bring more up-to-date hardware.
On the other hand, Valve’s product still stands out for its use of SteamOS, which has been its biggest weapon for optimizing recent titles. The company intends to repeat this successful formula in the new Steam Machine, a console-shaped platform that hits stores in 2026.
