SSD PIE 5.0 With XL-Flash Memory reaches 3.5 million IOPS and very low latency

Innogrit presented this year’s computer PCIE 5.0 computex called N3X, in order to promote not only its new IG5669 Tacoma Controller, but also the second-generation kioxia xl-flash memories. The main highlight of the product is in its random performance high with very low latency.

Since 2018 has been spoken of XL-Flash memories, originally designed as an response to Intel Optane initiative for SSDs. Now the optane technology no longer exists, so we don’t see many products using XL-flash. Innogrit, however, seems to want to change that.

The N3X SSD has been demonstrated by reaching 14GB/s speeds in reading and up to 12GB/s in recording, which are not especially flashy numbers for a PCIE 5.0 high end drive. However, in sequential reading the SSD stands out, beating 3.5 million IOPs, and around 700 thousand IOPs in the recording.

The main attraction of SSD equipped with XL-Flash is in the latency of memory. The latency of the reading was only 13 microseconds, and recording even less, only 4 microseconds. For reference, according to Tom’s hardware, TLC 3D 3D memories have an average of 50 to 100 microsecond reading latency and 200 to 400 microsecond recording.

The very low latency of the N3X should be especially attractive to use in caching, computing within memory, real -time analysis and, of course, AI inference. All segments specially valued in workstations for professional use.

Being a conceptual SSD, the idea of ​​Innogrit is to light interest in its Tacoma IG669 controller and the potential it offers when used with Kioxia XL-Flash memories. The idea is to get customers who will create PCIE 5.0 SSDs using these components.

The company estimates that popular formats for companies such as U.2 and E3.S must be the first to appear. However, it does not rule out the possibility of M.2 products for simpler workstations and even high-end desktops.
