Sparkle announces 4K@60fps-capable PCIe capture card

Sparkle, currently best known for its Intel Arc-based graphics cards, announced a capture card this week. The component plugs into a PC’s PCIe port to offer video capture and passthrough at settings up to 4K at 60fps.

The board is called Sparkle Streamer and its product code is EJ525DX. It has three video capture and passthrough modes:

• 4K a 60fps
• 2K a 120fps
• FullHD a 240fps

The product also features different video compressions at the hardware level, such as RGB444, YUV444, YUV422 and YUV420. Thus, Sparkle promises “exceptional video quality”, both in the transmission and in the capture itself.

An important highlight of the new capture card is that it has two HDMI inputs, one 2.0 and one 1.4. The 2.0 input is used for the device that will be captured, while the 1.4 port is there for cameras. This way, the Sparkle Streamer can combine the game and camera image in picture-in-picture (PIP) mode directly through its dedicated software, the Streamer Assistant.

The manufacturer emphasizes that the program is compatible with all mainstream streaming platforms, such as OBS and XSplit. In addition, the user has settings directly in the wizard, being able to change the size of the PIP mode windows or switch their sources quickly.

Sparkle expands its portfolio

Perhaps that’s why Sparkle decided to expand its portfolio in this area. The manufacturer had been investing in Intel Arc GPUs and GPU accessories, especially taking advantage of its expertise with the Thunderbolt connection.

Sparkle will compete with the big names in the industry, Avermedia and Elgato. Both companies have already introduced new products this year.
