At a time when Brazil is experiencing a major heat wave, a new device announced by Sony could end up being quite useful. According to the company, The Reon Pocket 5 is a small personal heatsink which ensures that you will stay properly cool most of the time.
Already available to buy in the UK and other international markets, the device works as a sort of collar, with the central part of which is placed on the user’s back. The company claims that it is its “most powerful cooling system” yet and that it is capable of providing up to 1.5 times more heat absorption than the previous generation.
The company also states that the Sony Reon Pocket 5 can be used in any stationwith a battery that works for up to 4 hours intensely, or 7.5 hours less intensely. On cold days, the accessory is also able to automatically adjust itself to provide heat to the user’s body.
Sony’s personal heatsink is expensive
Sony claims that the Reon Pocket 5 works using an air circulation system that has a fan that expels heat from its top. In the promotional images released by the Japanese company, the device can be worn under dress shirts in a very discreet way.
The device is compatible with the Reon Pocket Tag system, which helps it detect changes in light and anticipate the user’s habits. In addition, it can be synchronized with smartphones via Bluetooth, and there is a choice between two air outlets — a shorter one, for “casual wear”, and a longer one, for collared garments.

To enjoy the advanced “cooling system” you will need to invest a relatively expensive amount even by foreign standards. In the UK, a unit is going for £139, or just over R$1,016 in a direct conversion which does not consider additional taxes or fees.
