That high-end graphics cards have always had a considerably higher price, no one disputes. And that some people simply want the best, regardless of the cost, doesn’t either.
Now, What was surprising was that ASUS’s ROG Matrix Platinum RTX 5090, a GPU that costs a whopping $4,000, can no longer be purchased. In direct conversion, this value is equivalent to approximately R$21,596.8.
At Kabum, an Inno3d Geforce RTX 5090 X3 OC costs R$ 26,773.51. Therefore, it is difficult to imagine that a model with limited numbers will fall below this value. An AORUS MASTER ICE costs R$ 18,999.99 and an AORUS MASTER R$ 18,999.99. There is also the possibility of purchasing an Inno3D RTX 5090 X3 OC for R$ 17,999.99.
At Pichau, an ASUS RTX 5090 ROG Astral OC White Edition costs R$ 21,599.99. However, the plate has a discount and the original price is R$29,411.75.
ASUS made the Matrix an exclusive product, producing just 1,000 units, and they are already sold out, according to reports from PC Gamer. That’s an impressive feat for a card that costs about 42% more than the $2,800 standard RTX 5090.
And, taking that 42% increase over Inno3D mentioned above, this means R$ 38,018.39. This is a new level of “more expensive” for what was already the most expensive (and fastest) GPU in the world.
And, considering that common boards are still available from several suppliers, It can be said that Matrix has (had) great appeal as a luxury product.

Costs beyond the purchase
Even if you pay four thousand dollars (or forty thousand reais), acquiring and feeding the Matrix is quite a project. To make the most of the 800W power limit, you will need a motherboard with a BTF power slot. In practice, this means a high-end ASUS model.
The board’s power system can use either the BTF connector or a 12V-2×6 connector, but both are necessary to unleash the full potential.
German YouTuber der8auer tested the Matrix 5090 in depth. He practically confirmed ASUS’ claims of approximately 10% performance increase as long as the 800W power limit is enabled.
And the 10% may seem little, but you have to remember that this is 10% more of an impressive performance. In this era of diminishing returns on high-end hardware, it’s still a reasonably impressive result. Obviously, leaving aside issues of cost and practicality.
The YouTuber did not like the application of liquid metal to the plate. He pointed out that it would be beneficial to have a protective barrier to prevent metal from leaking further than desired.
The card’s cooling system is equally impressive, consisting of a massive heatsink and four fans in a 3+1 configuration, as well as liquid metal thermal paste. The whole set weighs around 3.2 kg and is simply gigantic, measuring 370 x 150 x 77 mm.
A board this size will almost certainly sag over time without support.and ASUS equipped it with a tilt sensor for an extra layer of security. After all, no one wants damaged hardware, especially after spending thousands on the graphics card alone.
