Transport documents have been one of the main sources of leakage and rumors about new hardware components, and this time we have news about the new Lake-S generation that should be welcome to Intel processors users.
A transport record on the NBD platform reveals that the new LGA-1954 socket, focused on CPUS Nova Lake-S, will measure 45 x 37.5mm. This is the same measure as the LGA-1851 socket, currently available for processors in the Intel Arrow Lake-S series.
This means that coolers currently compatible with the LGA-1851 socket can probably be used directly in the new generation. And since the current generation has maintained the shape of the previous one too, coolers originally released for the LGA-1700 socket can also be used with Nova Lake-S processors.
Intel is not known for the longevity of his sockets
Being able to keep at least coolers for more than one generation should be a good attraction for Intel users who need to face the frequent socket exchange for the company.
The LGA-1851 generation was in danger of being especially limited, as so far only CPUS Arrow Lake-S has supported. Intel would have planned to create desktop versions of its Meteor Lake-S processors for the platform as well, but these products did not go forward.
For a moment rumors indicated that we would not have a refresh for Arrow Lake-S, further limiting the LGA-1851 socket. Currently there is strong evidence that the generation will have a new series of products.
New Lake-S You can probably enjoy coolers and accessories already released
Similar measures of sockets are not absolute guarantee of product compatibility, but indicate this possibility. Thus, Intel could include in the Nova Lake-S box its cooler Stock, such as Laminar RH2, for example.

This obviously extends to third party solutions, not limited to coolers themselves, but also other types of accessories. Videocardz mentions, for example, a new structure recently launched by Noctua to improve the cooler’s fit and contact with the processor’s DIE.
