Those who follow technology news should remember how impressive it was when mobile phones began to account for PS3 or Xbox 360 level games. Now, a version of Snapdragon 8 Elite has been shown by running a game that gives work even on the most advanced PCs, Black Myth: Wukong.

The feat was demonstrated by a Youtube channel in China called Geekerwan. Using a Redmi 10S Pro+ equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Edition, the creator shows Black Myth running at a rate between 30 to 50fps, something that can be considered fully playable.

The “Leading Edition” is a slight Overclock version of the original Snapdragon 8 elite Snapdragon. And the mobile model used in the test also has its merits, because it has been able to keep the processor’s adreno GPU at 40ºC during the tests, a safe temperature. It is evident, however, that the game had to be properly configured for these numbers to be obtained.

To be able to run the monkey King’s game on a mobile phone, Geekerwan put the graphics settings in the lowest possible options. This included leaving the resolution at 1,600 x 720, using a upscaling tool called NXSR.

NXSR is an experimental alternative to solutions like DLSS and FSR, and was added to the game in February this year. Thus, it was possible to run the game at Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Edition with base resolution of 50%. Putting the configuration in 100% does not let framerate reach even 20fps.

It is important to remember that Wukong does not yet have a native version for Android. The Redmi 10S Pro+ features a built -in Windows emulator, the Winlator, which also has its cost to the performance of the games.

Test brings optimism to the next Snapdragon

With the Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Edition showing good results in a famously heavy game, the looks turn to the next generation of the Qualcomm Soccomm, which is close to being released.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 arrives on September 25, and should bring considerable performances of performance, especially in the GPU. The promise is up to 30% more graphic performance.

Increasingly advanced Socs should encourage more producers to create native versions of their games for mobile devices, which in turn should deliver more consistent performances. This should encourage not only the gamer mobile market, but also Android -based portable consoles.
