SK Hynix would already be sending the first HBM4 component units to Nvidia to use in its new GPUs based on Rubin architecture. The information is not yet official, but it comes from the South Korea Dealsite website, SK Hynix homeland.
Among the three giants in supply of memories, SK Hynix has been able to position itself ahead of its competitors, especially for the quality of its architectures for HBM. The so -called High Bandwith Memory memory had a huge shift in popularity due to its demand for AI accelerators.
Since Nvidia is the current company most benefited by Hype with AI, it has become the most coveted customer by memory manufacturers to provide HBM. And it seems that SK Hynix has come ahead, offering HBM4 “in small quantities” for now, but should be enough to see the debut of the Rubin generation later this year.
SK HYNIX HBM4 production would be very ahead
As with the manufacture of most electronic components, yield is a determining factor for HBM4 production. The more complete modules the company can get with less waste, the more competitive the prices it can offer. And it seems that SK Hynix is far ahead of the competition in this regard, without sacrifices of quality.
We have no officially released numbers by the company, but in April this year rumors circulated that SK Hynix was already reaching rates between 80% to 90% in the yield of its production to HBM4. This is probably what has ensured its “premium” supplier position for Nvidia in this generation.
While Micron and Samsung run after it also to conquer their spaces in the important arrival of HBM4, having Nvidia as a customer is still an option.
The GeForce giant would have plans to maintain the strategy it used with HBM3, receiving HBM4 modules from different suppliers, making room for other companies to receive orders as well.
