Recent review by Shawn Powers Linux Journal: ZaReason's Valta X79

"...Often when building a machine for brute horsepower, little thought is given to efficiency. Thankfully, that's not the case here. 80 Plus Gold certification means the power supply is 87% efficient at 20% load, 90% efficient at 50% load, and 87% efficient at 100% load. As it happens, when this system is running full bore with both the GPU and CPU maxed out, it's using almost exactly 425 watts. Whether it was a coincidence or not, it means the PSU was sized exactly right for maximum efficiency. Well played, ZaReason. "

This is a well crafted machine. It runs our linux distro flawlessly, and the military grade components tell me it'll be working well years from now. It's quiet and extremely light, and replaced a server class machine we had been using previously. It does just what it says - gives the IT department a break. There's no good reason not to buy it if you need a new desktop.

I heard about Zareason from a friend who is happy with the desktop he got here a while back. Looks like he was right -- great service and easy ordering. It was delivered quicker than I thought it would be.

I usually build my own machiines but I just got a new sys admin job and I just don't have the time. The Valta X79 is what I would have built for myself if I had the time (though it probably cost me a lot less to just get it from Zareason).

The Valta X79 is a screaming-fast computer. To be honest, if I were going to build a powerhouse computer from scratch, it's the exact type of system I would build. I think that's what I like best about it. ZaReason has taken the essence of building your own computer, using standard parts, and done the testing to make sure everything works well together. Then ZaReason assembles it, configures it and, most important, supports it. If you've ever wanted to build a custom system, but wished you didn't have to give up a warranty and tech support, you'll love this Linux beast from ZaReason.

We have two of these at work with SSD's. We use VM's for our software development and running the VM on an SSD cut compile times almost in half. I've had this computer for a couple months and it is rock solid! Would definitely recommend this computer (with a Nvidia video card) and ZaReason.
