Well-known power supply manufacturer Seasonic has listed unknown Radeon RX 7000 GPU models on its official website. This could be an indication that we could see an RDNA 3 refresh later this year.
The supposed new cards appear in the source selection tool on the Seasonic page. The user enters details of their system and the tool returns a suitable source for the build. Thus, in the GPU selection field, the “new” models of Radeon RX 7000 cards appear. They are:
- RX 7990 XTX
- RX 7950 XTX
- RX 7950 XT
- RX 7700
- RX 7500 XT
From the nomenclature, we can infer that these cards would be a refresh of AMD’s RDNA 3 generation of graphics chips. The question now is whether Seasonic placed the items there because it knew privileged information, or if the brand is just using a “placeholder”. In other words, it has already filled its list with cards that it imagines will be released.
An RDNA 3 refresh seems quite possible, however. Even with the three Navi 31, Navi 32, and Navi 33 options already available in their max core configurations, WCCFTech points out that it was the same with RDNA 2 and the generation received a refresh.
Radeon RX 7000 refresh to bring new options in 2024
Another indication that points to a possible refresh of the Radeon RX 7000 line appears in the rumors of the next generation of GPUs. Unofficial information categorically states that AMD will not present its RDNA 4-based cards this year.
The latest rumors point to the launch of the Radeon RX 8000 line in January, at CES 2025. Therefore, an RDNA 3 refresh would help AMD to still offer new options in the heated end-of-year period for 2024.
As always, time will tell what is true or not among the rumors. If the Radeon RX 7000 does indeed receive a refresh, we can expect higher clocks and higher memory, both in capacity and bandwidth.
