Scalpers are already selling GPUS RTX 5090 for up to $ 7,000

The RTX 5090 has not even been officially launching at stores and scalpers are already giving a way to try to earn from the new GPU. Taking advantage of extremely limited inventory rumors in the debut of the video card, overpricing money changers sell “vacancies” to receive the model when the launch happens.

These vacancies can reach up to $ 7,000 ($ 41,376), as shown in the screen capture below, taken from eBay. This is more than three times more of the price suggested by NVIDIA for the RTX 5090 reference models.

Offers are from people who claim to be stores and distribution networks of GPUs who have the guaranteed opportunity to buy some units of RTX 5090. So they are selling this guarantee that you will get the product at launch. A verification or proof of this is not offered, and offers are emphatic in saying that they do not accept any reimbursement of any kind.

“I am an employee of a certain technology store and I have guaranteed vacancies for some of these GPUs,” explains one of the ads. “I have no interest in upgrading in my current build and I’m trying to sell my guaranteed place to the plate. When buying/winning the auction on this listing you are guaranteed to receive a new Geforce RTX 5090. ”

For those not yet familiar with the term, scalpers are people who use robots or privileged access to buy large quantities of a limited stock product and then resell it at exorbitant prices. Obviously, it only works with products with high hype value, as well as RTX 5090.

Videocardz says that Nvidia has not taken many actions to prevent this kind of problem in past generations of its GPUS, so it seems like the same with the arrival of the RTX 50 series. But the action of scalpers start before the release of the RTX 5090 is unusual.
