Taking advantage of the immense demand for memory components from AI companies, which results in a widespread shortage of components, Sandisk reportedly decided to increase the price of its NAND flash memories by up to 50%. The information comes from DigiTimes Asia, which also reports that other companies are already “reviewing” their plans after the manufacturer’s announcement.
According to the report, Transcend, Innodisk and Apacer Technology have already paused their orders in order to reevaluate their strategies after such a huge increase in Sandisk’s NAND flash prices.
Transcend, in particular, reportedly stopped shipping new products on November 7th, with expectations that prices will continue to increase, before starting to decrease.
The constant price increase in memory products has already brought results for the three companies mentioned. Transcend saw a 334% increase in profit compared to last year, while Innodisk increased its metric by 250% for the same period. DigiTimes does not report Apacer Technology’s annual margin, but says the company saw a 70% increase in revenue for Q3 2025, compared to Q3 2024.
Memory prices should continue to rise
The situation is the same as what has been reported all year. Memory component manufacturers are turning their resources to producing advanced DRAM and HBM memory modules for AI accelerators, due to disproportionate demand for the technology in the industry.
The result is that older modules such as DDR4 and NAND flash components for consumer products decline in production volume, resulting in shortages and rising prices.
