Sandisk promotes new products for its new phase as a separate spinoff from WD, fully focused on SDD and performance drives. Thus, the company has already announced that it works on a PCIE 5.0 SSD that will use only 7W to work while reaching the maximum performance that the interface can offer.
The information came in a company presentation during Investor Day 2025 – the same event where Sandisk spoke of its new HBF. In SSDS, the company said it intends to work with two new drives platforms, one for Nand QLC -based products and the other in Nand TLC.

As might be expected, we will have QLC -based and TLC -based QLC -based products for high performance. Thus, it is with this second type of memory that Sandisk’s 7W SSD will be produced.
“This will be absolutely the best product in the industry segment,” said Khurram Ismail, Sandisk executive. “Players and OEMs will love this product.”
The company promises SSD for the second quarter of this year, arriving in capabilities between 512GB and 4TB. The speeds are at 14.500mb/s for reading and 14,000mb/s for recording in the 2TB model.

Sandisk will start ending production of SSDs Gen 4 in 2028
While greatly emphasized its new Drive TLC, Sandisk also commented that it intends to have a higher volume of QLC -based products. Products with this technology will appear for both PCIE Gen 4 and Gen 5, and the company intends to have 75% of its Nand QLC -based portfolio by 2028.

This will be a very important year for the company, since also in 2028 Sandisk intends to start ending the production of SSDs for PCIE 4.0. That is, in three years the company will start focusing entirely on the manufacture of SSDS Gen 5, whether they are TLC for performance or QLC for affordable products.
