Samsung, which would currently be facing difficulties with its 3NM (SF3) process, would not be moving forward as expected also in the development of its technology at 1.4nm (SF1.4). This is what the rumors affirm the time, pointing to the possibility of completely giving up this new process.
As might be expected, we have no official confirmation of current Samsung Foundry problems, but we know, for example, that the company has already stopped production of chips in 5NM and 7nm for lack of demand. In addition, Nvidia has criticized the technology for HBM from the South Korean company more than once.
The main impact of an official withdrawal of the 1.4nm process would be in the image of Samsung. According to recent data from Korea Economic Daily, the company’s chip manufacturing market has dropped at the last raising, reaching 8.2%. Meanwhile, TSMC has 67.1% of the segment.
