Samsung can double the performance of its 2NM process [RUMOR]

Samsung would have made important advances in its 2nm chip manufacturing process, according to media information in South Korea, its homeland. After facing performance problems with technology, recent advances would even have doubled the performance of their production.

In September last year, information circulated that Samsung faced problems of manufacturing GAA for both 3NM and 2NM lithography. In the second case, reports pointed to an income between 10% and 20%.

However, the latest rumors claim that the South Korean giant managed to jump its income to 40%, a much closer number of commercial viability. The company seems to be dedicated to revitalizing Samsung Foundry to compete with TSMC.

The advance is extremely important for Samsung, but its rival would already be able to achieve income around 80% for the 2NM process. There are even reports that TSMC has already accepted customer orders since the first day of April.

Samsung’s advance would have aroused interest in Apple, AMD and Nvidia

Samsung needs to advance further in its income to produce at 2NM commercially, but do not need to reach the same level as TSMC to compete with the company by customers. According to rumors, Apple, AMD and Nvidia would have already shown interest in the advances of the South Korean company.

Big techs obviously prefer not to depend on just one supplier for their more advanced chips, and the alternative can offer not only more production volume but also cheaper orders. It is possible for companies to adopt a strategy of maintaining both TSMC and Samsung as manufacturers for 2NM.

Meanwhile, this week we also had rumors that the Galaxy owner already accelerates the development of the 1NM process with a team entirely dedicated to this. It seems that the company is really betting on its Foundry segment.
